Prior to joining the PRC, University of Sydney, Richard Hu worked in the field of planning, architecture and property development. As a consultant and manager, he was employed by prestigious international consulting firms and developers, such as TaoHo Design and HKI Development. He had professional and research experience in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Paris, Frankfurt and Los Angeles. The projects he was involved in include the planning of the Beijing CBD, the development of giant mix-used projects in downtown Beijing and Beijing Silicon Valley: the Beijng Fortune Plaza and the Beijing Hi-tech Conference & Convention Centre, and large-scale residential community projects in various parts of East China. Currently, he is doing his PhD research, aiming at a comparative analysis of the CBDs around the Pacific Rim. His research focus is on the transformation of the CBD in an info-global era
